4D Candles is an art project I began in 2022 that I have developed significantly over the last year. Each 4D Candle scent is paired with its own digital artwork created by a local or metro Detroit artist!
After the artist creates a work and digitizes their piece, I create a 15-30 second animation representing the work as close as possible!
When you smell the candle and view the digital animation, you are engaging a synesthetic or multi-sensory experience. You can access the artwork at any time via the QR Code on the side of the candle. Many owners of 4D Candles cast their artwork onto a TV or computer while lighting the candle when having company or relaxing.
Each artist is compensated per candle sold as a royalty for allowing me to use their piece. I am very grateful to have been able to support 9 local artists over $2500 total in 2023!

'Art of Living' by Mi'Ele Booker (Spring 2023) | This piece was paired with a poem that Mi'Ele wrote by the same name, as well as with audio design that Mi'Ele created! The scent accompanying this artwork is an enchanting blend of vanilla & birch.
This creative endeavor has taught me so much, not only about branding, sales, marketing, product development, insurance, taxes, packaging design, social media, new animation and motion graphics techniques- It's also taught me to be more confident and proud of putting my original ideas and art out there. Every challenge that has laid in my path along this journey, has led to a powerful lifelong lesson.

Thank you very much to Robynn Verhaeghe for designing the base label as well as updating my logo and giving me a foundation to build off of! Thank you to Samantha Bissett for helping me at events and being a massive support of all of my eccentricities! I am very proud with how far this project has come, and so excited to see where it goes. My mind is always bubbling with new ways of incorporating digital media into our daily lives.
I hope that you reading this can see my experimental and innovative nature. I cannot live this life without thinking outside of the box!
